Archery is an ancient sport of both Kings and Queens and is today the only sport providing the official royal bodyguard to the monarch. The skilful use of the medieval longbow at Crecy (1346) and at Agincourt (1415) laid down its mark in the annals of history and today we retain that history and balance it alongside a modern Olympic sport.
Target Archery
This popular form of archery takes place on flat terrain and consists of shooting a given number of arrows, known as a round, at targets over known distances
Indoor archery with its smaller target faces and closer distances is very popular
Field Archery
Takes place on a course of targets set out in rough country (often woodland), The shooting distances are frequently different so that archers have to rely on judgement and instinct, particularly if they have to shoot through the trees, up or down hill.
Clout Archery
Similar to target, except that the archer attempts to drop arrows at long range (18O yards for the men and 140 yards for women) into a series of circular scoring zones on the ground surrounding a marker flag.
Pennine Adventure will come to your venue with all the equipment for a session of skill and on-target shooting.
